| When we got back from Majorca in October I started a job straight away, so didn't do anymore to the house until the start of December. The next job, after completing the extension in September, was to re-vamp the old kitchen into a usable room. It'll be called a third bedroom, but I'll be using it as an office/study, but it'll be kitted out like it's a bedroom. So the old kitchen looked like this on the day we moved in. The fuseboard and meter were located in a pantry type cupboard, and next to it was a cupboard that had the hot water cylinder. The radiator that you can just see the corner of was fixed to this wall. So the main job was to move the boiler and hot water cylinder to the loft, but obviously there was stripping out the old units, wall tiles, and knocking the old cupboard walls down. The old fuse board and meter were in a daft place, so they would have to be moved. With that moved, the old window and rear door could be blocked up, in preparation for the plastering. With the boiler and hot water cylinder then moved, the plastering could start. The extra width given to the room is now shown, although later the new built in wardrobe will reduce the width back down again. Once plastered, painting and skirting boards are fitted. So i've now started fitting the carcass for the built in wardrobe doors. The carpets are due to be fitted next Monday, so there's a few more bits to do this week, and the wardrobe doors are due for delivery next Tuesday. |

Did you dry line the house? Yes, drylined most of the walls, certainly the window wall and the back wall with blockwork where the fuseboard used to be. Skim coat of plaster then applied to the surface. |
