We left for Birmingham airport about 3.30am in the morning. Didn’t see much passing traffic but we did see a couple of foxes. One of them was blatantly doing his business on the side of the road. Parked for the week at the airport. Teen boy made up a little rhyme to remember our spot. This was the first off many numbers we had to try to remember during the week. Check in, boarding and departure all went smoothly and on schedule. We had breakfast on the plane which was surprisingly tasty(Flew with Thomas Cook). Next time we will be having a whetherspoons breakfast as we are going with Ryanair. (If East midlands has one).
We are all excited on route. Teen boy has his game machine and shows me his gaming character. Sackboy of little big planet is wearing a mankini. :face: Once in Palma all slows down to Majorca time. It takes us about 20mins to get off the plane and the suitcases are obviously on their holidays too.
We were the annoying party who boards the coach last. Not our fault, as I said the baggage was painfully slow. The rest of the travellers must have been somewhat annoyed when we were the first drop off. The transfer was approx 50mins.
The beauty of CSV is hard to describe so I will let the pics do the work.
There were lots of mountain goats around who sometimes came onto the beach
After lunch we explored the beaches near the hotel. The sea was very calm and easy to float around in apparently. We spent a pleasant couple of hours on the beach and in the sea with teen boy determined to purchase a snorkel for the next day. I was chatting to a lady in the sea, like you do, who had returned to the resort since going in June. They were self catering and said that the cafe above the spa shop did a good meal despite outwards appearances. She also recommended another restaurant but sadly my memory fails me.
After dinner we had a stroll around the resort. Right next to the hotel there is a Spa shop. There seem to be quite a few places to eat either close by or just down the road. We quickly passed Bar Mallorca which is open until 5.00pm.
We stopped for a drink at the Grupotel bar. I think it was the hotel bar. It was right next to Cala Molins beach. This was a really relaxing place to have a drink. They had chilled music on and some innovative table lights which were paper bags with the based weighted with sand and a tea light placed in the middle.
We spend the rest of the evening on the terrace chatting to a couple from Inverness. Went to bed happy and relaxed and slept well.
Next morning we went to the welcome meeting and booked a couple of trips. As it was teen boys first time , we booked Pirates as we were assured last pick up and first drop off. This was a great family thing to do. You are a bit crammed in and the food is basic but surprisingly good considering they cater for such large numbers. I think comfort and food are secondary anyway. The show is what you pay for and it doesn’t disappoint. It is mostly acrobatic acts and we all enjoyed it. We Arrrghed our way home. As I said we threw ourselves into it all for the sake of the child and joined in the return trip games. The rep said a colour and the first side to sing a song with that colour in the name scored a point. We won so many that she had to make the last round worth 4 points to give the left side of the bus a chance. Colour was grey and apparently nobody else knew Grey day by Madness. I won for the team but the downside was I was Solo.
We also booked Western water park as Teen boy was desperate to go. Thought about hiring a car for the day as the rep was being evasive about time spent on the coach. We risked it and it wasn’t too bad, about 2 hours there but only one back as we were first drop off. The boys enjoyed the water park but came back a bit bruised from some of the slides.
On Wednesday we spent the day on the hotel Beach. I read and dipped while teen boy stayed horizontally attached to his snorkel for 6 hours. He came back occasionally to report things he’d found like a cave you could pop up in when you went under the water. Once they both disappeared and had swam to Cala Molins beach. Naughty boys got a ticking off.
Thursday we spent the day on Cala Molins beach. This was less rocky so it was easy just to sit and cool off. Some fish were nipping my ankles but teen boy said they looked like the fish his mum had paid a fortune to let them nibble her feet in Devon. We sat and had an expensive beauty treatment for free. It was actually quite relaxing. Once your soles were off the ground the fish definitely preferred to nibble here. We had lunch at Bar Mallorca which was indeed lovely
I warned Mr R that the portions were big but he thought we should order one each in order to sample a cross section. We all orders Pa amb Oli, Mr R calamari, Teen boy Salami and me Serrano ham. The boys did manage to eat all theirs but they must have been a challenge because I didn’t finish mine and they couldn’t manage it either which is unusual.
I don’t usually like tomatoes but I enjoyed these, they were much less acidic than most. Thursday evening was Pirates.
Friday we walked to Port de pollenca. It took about an hour and it was up hill for a lot of the route but the views were so breathtaking that we barely noticed .
From above we saw another bay near Cala Molins, this was Cala Carbo or something like that. can't find it on the map as its so small. It was more rocky and had nobody on it. Once at our destination we just walked along the seafront and found a plce to have an ice cream. It looks much more lively here if you wanted to go further afield.
We didn’t explore too much as we were walking back to CSV. Friday evening we relaxed back at the hotel. I would have liked to get out and about more but we spent a lot on trips and have another hol coming up soon!!!
Saturday was a bit rainy in the morning and cloudy. It was still warm so we did some socializing on the terrace. The couple from Inverness had walked to Port de Pollenca twice. The next day I saw them they had gone to Pollenca which they said was more up their street. They said it was older and they really enjoyed their visit. Mr R had hired a cycle and him and the boy had headed off into the mountains. I think they hired a shopping bike though, perhaps a mountain bike may have been better. He came back with some spectacular pics which he will post with some explanations soon. They had come part way home by ferry. Apparently he would have cried if they missed it.
Monday was water park day so we never really had time to fit Pollenca in. That’s a reason to return I think. When we returned the sea was wavey enough for surfing I kid you not. Lovely to watch.
Overall CSV is a place I have fallen in love with and hope to return to. I can see why people return time and time again.
Return journey not so good. Late departure, kid kicking my seat most of the way home, throw in a screaming child and a rancid apple crumble in our in flight meal, seriously people were spitting it out. I am too ladylike for that so may well be poorly tomorrow. Not even a free coffee in way of compensation to get the nasty taste out of my mouth. Maybe I was just in a bad mood having to leave.
