| We decided to go for a meal on the Sunday night, I fancied a steak. We wanted to try somewhere different, that we hadn't been to. So at the top of the strip (Punta Balena) just before the Kings Arms, we turned right into a street known as the Scando area, as it has a few Scandanavian bars etc. We came across Restaurante Fantastic, a quaint looking resto, that was busy as it was a lovely night. (This photo was taken on the Tuesday, 2 days after we had eaten there). There was a full & varied menu, as shown by San. (Sorry about the quality of the photo's, as it was taken on my phone, as the camera was a bit dodgy). We didn't want a starter, so I ordered Fillet Steak & San fancied the Duck a l'Orange, but unfortunately as it was at the end of the season & they were shutting down soon, they didn't have any duck. So San was told by the waiter that she could have Chicken al'Orange instead. She said she would try it & so our order was taken, with an accompanying bottle of red wine. As I said we didn't order a starter, but the waiter brought us carrot sticks with a garlic sauce in a bowl, very nice to I may say. I like my steak medium, but was told it would be better as well done, & it was absolutely beautiful, with chips, & vegetables for both of us. (Sorry about no photo's of the meal, as my memory was full on my phone). San said, apart from the Indian meal at Los Curries, that it was the best meal that she had had. We asked for the bill, & another waiter brought us a complimentary brandy. I was waiting for him to stop pouring, but he carried on, & I had to say whoa. Then he did it again with San's. With a tip, the bill came to a very reasonable 40 euro's. I would strongly recommend this Restaurant & we would definitely go to it again. The only down side was, that we were late to meet Deb's & Don at the Fountain Bar. Deb's was drinking coffee, which I had to take a photo of, strange really because she had packed already before she went out. _________________ Mick

| Does anybody off our forum apart from me eat Spanish food in Spain? I had a chat with delboy so I know he doesn't eat paella.I suspect H might eat Spanish food.
I had the paella on two occasions in H Sol Mirlos and it was very good.If you order for one in a bar/resto what you get is a microwaved frozen cheapo mix that isn't worth eating. But the one in the hotel was a massive platter cooked in the traditional manner (I think!)
Traditional Mallorquin dishes like Tumbet,P'amboli,Mallorquinfrit really are very tasty. It can pay to be adventurous.Even tortilla which is dirt cheap is tasty and filling.(Omlette containing fried potatoes and onions). |

| Well in 1969 I was served paella in what was no more than a Spanish working man's cafe and a squid sat on the top with two eyes staring at me which was enough to put me off. To be honest, I don't like Spanish food and have always gone to Spain in the past for the sun and cheap drink. If I go AI at the RUI's in any country I usually end up eating salads. I'm not bias but would not eat food from a number of foreign countries I've been to. I did eat Spanish food in Caspe Spain, as the place is not touristy but can't say I enjoyed any of them (Just being honest here) I all a bit like modern art, many people will tell you how wonderful it is, I just can't see it |

| We had the lunchtime special the other day Mick - still warm enough to sit outside that day - £6.95 each for 3 Tapas each - with free garlic bread with cheese and ali oli dip - delicious. With sangria it was only £20 :-bd: |
