i'm on the verge of booking the sol mirlos for our 6 night break in oct.the best price so far is £371 through the sol melia group.
thanks to beeech and wirralscouse i've discovered that there booking policy is a very good deal,ie no deposit,no cancellation fee and no payment till arrival at hotel, sounds to good to be true.
i've been through the terms and conditions and the only penalties are if you cancel 24 hrs before arrival you pay for one night at the hotel and if you leave the hotel before your booked departure date you pay for the full duration of the holiday you had previously booked..fair enough.
another thing we need to think about on the a/i option is that premium branded drinks are approx half price,ie strongbow e1.50 a pint.
but you can upgrade to a gold card for 8 euros a day per person and get the premium brands free.
i believe these include smirnoff, bud, bottled san miguel, strongbow draft and bottled, plus the shorts.
i think what you need to weigh up is can you justify the extra 16 euros a day,or just settle for the half price deal and pay as you go?
also are we going to spend THAT much time in the hotel??

any comments most welcome.
(beats watching the soaps)

Yosef - that seems a very good price.

I have been looking at various sites, and Sol Melia is the cheapest- go for it !
I would be inclined NOT to upgrade to gold card - but thats just a personal preference as I don't spend alot of time in hotel.

P.S - I'm watching soaps as we speak smile

Seems you would have to drink 6 pints as day each to make a profit so to speak. Fizzy drinks wouldn't count during
the day, as you would get those anyway within AI

i knew someone with enough smarts would come along and work it out for me,cheers delboy.
nah, only joking mate.as it happens we like 3/4 pints every lunch time, but we enjoy the walk to the three brothers as it's a great place to sit in the sun, people watch and chat to other people.
i don't think we will bother with the gold card as it might tie you to the hotel too much.
a typical day for us is a nice long walk to,say santa ponsa, back for a light lunch,a few cold ones then crash by the pool for the rest of the day.
then have the evening meal, walk it off along the prom, a few more cold ones and a good show somewhere.
no point getting up for that early morning run up to cala vinas anymore delboy

Sounds like a good holiday to me yozef.

PS How do you fit in all the P-for-Relief stops?

PPS.I was HB at Sol Mirlos Oct 2010.Paid cash at the bar for my Amstel lagers,Larios G&Ts.Always tipped the barman, usually under a euro each time and it was visibly acknowledged and appreciated.Excelent bar service ahead of the queue thereafter.Having started off being asked where my plastic wristband was and then the look of incredulity on the barman's face when I said I was HB I took the hint; I made the decision to go AI (not Gold card) in October 2011.

I have to avoid cider especially when in warm climates.I love the taste so much I keep drinking it and before I know it I am legless. With lager I really enjoy the taste of the first one but those after are just habit. On my 35th birthday I disgraced myself on Merrydown Vintage while sitting in the sun in a deckchair just outside the boundary watching a Western League match between Newport,Mon (as it was then-your neck of the woods) and Chippenham. I had litre bottles in a coolbag.By 4 pm I was seeing 2 cricket balls in tandem.By 5pm I was throwing up in the adjacent allotments.Staggered home for my birthday dinner lovingly prepared by my then wife.Went straight to bed.Shameful behaviour on my part.Cider-my ruination.

yeah it can be done mark,if memory serves it's about a hour and half to get to santa ponsa on foot, though it's boring retracing your steps,we prefer a circular walk.as a rule we get a bus or taxi back, though there is a long way back through (son or can ferrer) i think its called'
