Hi, I started a new project the other week, it's building a new block of stables, thought you might want to observe the progress as it goes by.
First we had to clear an overgrown section of land of shrubs and trees/saplings, also had to move some supposedly 'mobile' stables out of the way.

Whoops the mobile stables aren't very mobile at all
Still, it was a nice day

Having cleared the site, excavation of trenches for the foundations commenced.
Once they were dug, pegs are put in level, so that you have a guide where the top of the concrete comes to.

Concrete is then poured into the trenches.
Then the hard work starts the loading out of bricks and concrete blocks to form the footings.
The bricks and blocks are then laid to form the external shape.
More to come as work progresses over the next few weeks.

Following on from the last pics I posted, the ground in between the two brick external walls had to be filled with hard core, and screened with blinding, before compacting with a 'Wacka' plate.
Then steel mesh is fitted, on top of DPM (damp proof material), with plastic spacers inserted so that the mesh 'seats' within the concrete centrally.
You might notice that drainage and a water main and an electric cable have also been fitted.
The concrete was then laid, we've had to do it in two sections, as it's too much concrete to pour in one hit, almost 10 cubic metres each side.
The remains of the mobile stables went up in smoke
