Ive been going to this resort for 24 years now and still love to go as they have something for everyone to enjoy. We have made lots of friends of all ages over the years and it still feels like home when we arrive there. The beach is fantastic and clean with lots of bars and restaurants running along it. Its hard to say where its neighbouring resort Palma Nova starts and ends as these resorts have joined together over the years as they grow in size. My favourite Hotel in Magaluf is the Hotel Gaudalupe its a 3 star hotel with a fantastic pool and in a great location with a few bars dotted just outside but not noisy like the strip but within walking distance of the main nightlife if you want it.

Magaluf is well known for its party atmosphere for the young but it is alot more than just that. Magaluf has different areas of it including a rather nice area around the hotel Sol Gaudalupe . There is a few bars along this walk way that anyone can enjoy of any age there is one of my favourites that is one of the oldest bars in Magaluf called Manos Place. There is also the Green Parrot another old bar famous now for a DJ that cracks jokes and sings a bit like Roy Chubby Brown lol.

Magaluf Captur10

Another great bar in this area is the Piano Bar famed for its 5pm drinking sessions I dont know how this started but it gets alot of people in there I think its to have a break from the days sunbathing ,they play alot of 60's/70's and 80's tunes and it has a great atmosphere.

Benny Hills a great family bar its huge dominating a big corner site great for the kids as the staff have a laugh with them and give them whistles and garlands etc. There is many other bars and restaurants along this road leading to one of Europes biggest nightclubs BCM Planet Dance they have an amazing laser show not to be missed if your a party animal

At the Back of this club there is BCM Square its full of mixed bars playing all kinds of music and there is entertainment on a huge outdoor stage

The strip is where all the party people head for late at night until early morning with popular bars like Crystal Bar, the Red Lion,Bommerangs etc the list just goes on and you wont be stuck for food as there is plenty of places to eat from fast food such as Mcdonalds KFC to big restaurants ,Chinese Indian absolutely everything.

There is some great places to go such as Auguapark, gokarts, Slingshot, Pirates, Western Park, and new to Magaluf is Expedition Golf its a big fantasy crazy golf course and again the list goes on so as you can see you will never get bored in Magaluf.

Magalluf was my first experience of life abroad and was totally not what I expected as I thought Spain was just little tavernas and white buildings and churches but I was wrong lol, it was party heaven for this young 18 year old whom had a fab time with lots of great memories and has always gone back even after 26 years I still love the place as there is something for everyone. Magalluf and Palma Nova are like chalk and cheese but are within easy walking distance of each other.

Here is some beach views from Magalluf

This photo was taken from a bar at the top end of the beach as far as you can walk, its not cheap but has some great chill out tunes in the background.

The little Island opposite the Magalluf beach is called Black Lizard Island (Isla de sa Porrassa) its located in the centre of Magaluf Bay approx 1000 metres from the beach and is a wild life sanctuary for the many black lizards which occupy it

Magaluf from older eyes.

Magaluf is not the sort of place Mrs Delboy and I would normally pick for a holiday as we prefer the quieter resorts. Why did we go then, well it was the TA 3rd meet up and wanted to meet the guys and girls on the forum. However we did pick a hotel on the peninsular on the Palma Nova side (see resort review).

Magaluf 00313

Magaluf has one beach which is golden sand.

Magaluf 11610

Although at the far end it is extended using concrete platforms and decking with chair beds.

Magaluf 16311

Facing the sea the beach is enclosed by two headlands the one on the left divides Magaluf from Palma Nova.

Magaluf 11510

The peninsular on the right heads around to Cala Vinyas Bay (see review).

Magaluf 11710

On Magaluf beach there are chair beds and parasols for hire but I did not use them and I can only assume they would be the same price as Palma Nova 10.80 euro’s a day for two beds and a chair.

Along the back of the beach is a promenade walkway with beach restaurants we did have lunch in Tom Brown’s and found them very reasonable.

Magaluf 11810

Behind these beach restaurants there is a road which is known as the Magaluf Strip. During the day it looks to have quite a few shops and bar/ restaurants.

Magaluf 12110

Magaluf 12510

If there is a football match on there appears to be so many televisions in the bars that it appears to be a street of televisions.

After the meet, which ended gone midnight we walked up the same strip which had been completely lit up like Blackpool and the bars and other various establishments came to the forefront.

In October the number of people on the street was few but July/August would probably be packed. There were a few people trying to attract us into their bars on the way back but they knew they were on a loser. The young seem to be enjoying themselves.

There are two manic rides at the top of the strip where one would have to be out of your mind to go on.as they were either flung 200ft in the air in a pod on elastic or vertically spun round in a pod on a 100ft arm.

Magaluf 12310

We could hear the screams from our hotel, the pod is above the two lit poles and taken from a video shot

Magaluf 053_co10

During the day there is an upside down house called the House of Kathmandu with entertainment inside

Magaluf 11110

and next door there is a very good golf putting course which has a very picturesque layout, there are 3 courses of 18 holes. We played one round of 18 holes and the cost was 8.90 euro’s.

Magaluf 13111

Our final night we walked up the Strip about 9.00pm and were approached by around 6/8 people trying to get us into their bars and one of them did not want to accept a no, to be honest I found it intimidating.

Summing up a place for the young and those that like a boisterous scene

Some great pics there, looks really nice but since ive had kids ive always been put off this area by the thought of stag parties / large drunken groups etc. Would have been heaven 15 years ago but not sure it would suit us now?? Or have i got the wrong impression??

Is Palma Nova OK for families given its proximity to magaluf. Certainly has superb looking beaches.

I think there might be a fair amount of disagreement on the answer to this, - and we're all friends!

Palma Nova is superb, Magaluf is fine during the day and early evening but it's not so good these days at night, for the reasons you mention.

All IMO of course.

I go to Magaluf a lot, but I would totally agree with Mark. Palma Nova is great for families, with more than enough to do. Magaluf is great as well, but I will strongly recommend avoiding the strip (Punta Balena) area at night especially. You will get mithered by PR's offering you this & that, & in some cases the other. Plenty to do in & around PN & Maga, such as Golf Fantasia, Go Karting, House of Katmandu, Pirates, also close to Palma City for a day out.
