The town of Corralejo in Fuerteventura lies on the most North East tip of the Island.

The island that you can see just off shore is Islas de Lobos, which translates to Wolf Island, so named for the seals that used to inhabit the shore. (Lobos = Sea Wolves)
Further off shore you can make out Lanzarote.

At first glance it’s a typical Spanish Canarian town, with many restaurants and duty free shops. There’s also a couple of quite large shopping centres, offering more like European goods and clothing. The prices are not particularly bargains due to the current exchange rate. Several bars open all night, although this isn’t a loud resort which attracts the party all night crowd.

We ate out in town a few times, steaks in the Canaries seem to be a better prime cut of beef, and we had some good T Bone’s cooked on a BBQ pit.

This one was a Fillet, for just €13.

There was also an ice cream shop in town which was to die for.

Probably the bigger attraction of the town is the sand dunes which roll into the beaches. These are spectacularly to say the least.

The beaches are very Caribbean in appearance, gently shelving into the sea.

The town also has a Marina, and a ferry port to Lanzarote.

Around the corner from the Ferry Port is the most Northern port, and the view across to Lanzarote.

That was nice Mark.I see in the background of 2 of your fotos Hotel Riu Palace Tres Islas.A very nice hotel indeed.I loved it.And you walk out of the back gate onto the beach and you can walk literally for miles along the shallows and the sandy beach. Not many resorts in Europe can offer that.

You're right Wirral, if you're just looking for a beach holiday and in-hotel entertainment then this spot would be hard to beat.
We spoke to some of the returnees on the way back to the airport (same coach as us) and their only complaint was €10 -15 on taxis going into town at night. Too far to walk.

Great review Mark, It appears the best place to be is somewhere between the town of Corralejo and the main beaches, was that where your hotel was based. What would be the distance to walk to both beach and town please. The food prices look slightly cheaper than Lanzarote and the exchange of 119 euro's was good, it never reached anywhere near that here, in our Post Offices/Travel agents.

Although I had 8 hours in Corralejo on a miserable day I knew from the pics I had available, someone could put it in a better light than me.

Well done

There's two beaches in the town of Corralejo, both pretty standard beaches, the dunes are just out of town really. You could walk to the beginning of the dunes if you was at that end of town (it's quite a big town) but the dunes are miles and miles long so you could be walking for ever.
Our Hotel was on the outskirts, not far to walk into town, but too far really to walk to the dunes (although the dunas national park actually started only about 200 yards from the hotel).

First went to corralejo about 20 years ago and then went back maybe 4 years ago. The change was unbelievable. The resort had grown to at least 5 times its original size. The first time all that was there was the original old town area but 2nd time the bars and shops had developed half a mile up the main street that runs down to the older part. Great resort.
You can easily jump on a bus to the big dunes beach only 5 mins on bus but we always hire a car for the duration.
