i know that come the oct meet up most of us will be staying for different periods of time.i was wondering if any had any trips planned?.
over the years we have done a few in mallorca but have yet to do the soller trip so that is a must for us,we are on the island in june but i think it would be too much of a trek from ca'n picafort,would be better to do it from palma nova i think.
here's a couple of things we usually do,not everyone's cup of tea i know.

walk into portal nous,have a coffee/beer and feed the huge fish (mullet i think) in the marina.
walk into santa ponsa,have a coffee/beer and watch the parrots.
hire bikes for a cycle on the wide/safe paths into other resorts.
have a walk up to cala vinas.

anyone else have their favourite to do things

A day in Soller by train and tram is well worth it. It's surprising how quickly you can get across the island and C'an Picafort really isnt that far away. By car I would recommend catching the Soller train at Bunyola rather than Palma, much easier and parking on the road nearby isnt a problem. Otherwise if you are not hiring a car and fancy an adventure, take a taxi to Sa Pobla train station, catch an early train to Palma and then the Soller train leaves from the little station next door to the main one in Palma Easy!! I am more than happy to work out all the timing for you. :bball:

I think its great making your own way around Ca rater Mallorqui and well done. Ive not done alot of travel I must admit, Ive done a few walks mind.
There was one year we went and got taxis to a few resorts but didnt stay in them for very long just a little walk around and back for some chilaxing

i must say that you make it sound very interesting going from sa pobla station,tbh i thought that going from cp we would be a bit of a trek.

Hi , Here are the current timetables

1) trains from Sa Pobla (pobles) to Palma Follow the blue lines not the yellow! Sa Pobla trainstation is on the edge of town, you will need a taxi and ask the taxi driver to pick you up on return! Buy tickets at the kiosk on the platform. If ticket person is not there I am sure you can get a ticket on the train. Buy a return, much cheaper.

If you can get up early enough, get the early train and plan to catch the 8am train from Palma. The next Soller train is the Touristico and is always packed!!The early train is much nicer, never full in our experience. This also makes it much easier tro get a tram down to the port of Soller. Otherwise its a mad scramble to get the connecting tram! (Pay on the tram) If you also plan to catch the boat to Sa Calobra, you most certainly need this train. (I have never done the full Round Robin!)


2) Leave the train station, head right on the ring road and the Soller train station is next door. Buy a ticket prior to boarding at the ticket office

3) Stay in Soller or catch the tram as above. Dont forget to reach out for an Orange tree leaf!!

Plan you trip back carefully giving yourself time for hiccups. When staying in Cala Bona we drove to Bunyola to catch the early train but didnt give enough time. We ended up racing the train as it ran on the track next to the road. Goodness knows how, but we managed to catch it at Bunyola station and that was with an 8 month and 2 year old in pushchairs!! We probably parked illegally, who knows?

We went to Soller in November for lunch following a walk to Castel d'alaro. Had a super menu del dia at a restaurant called "Sa Cova".

Although I would add Yosef, that the 'tourist' train, stops mid point for photos of the mountain views, that's why it's a bit more popular.

Me & Sandra, have been threatening to do the Soller train trip, so we will have to do it in May or October.
