| Hi All I am new to this forum and my H and I will be in Mallorca early May for three full and one half (travel to ) day. We will not be renting a car and are staying in Palma. We would like to see Soller and the port (by train/tram)- the Caves of Drach (as a tour?) I think a day in Palma might also do a half day boat trip.. those are the things we are thinking of. We like architecture and nature but are not big on spending days in multiple museums (some are ok:) Should we spend a full day in Palma (maybe our day we arrive do a hop on hop off tour? See Le Seu cathedral. These are just some questions and thoughts but would love to hear what others might suggest. We really don't want to drive. |

| The train to Soller is a must Barb & a look around the port to have lunch etc is well recommended. Mallorca operates a great bus system to get you all over the Island & not very expensive so that is a bonus. A day is probably needed to look round Palma & all its charms. Possibly a boat trip around the Island is another half or full day depending where you go. I hope this helps & other MF members will come along & add to your itinerary. _________________ Mick

| Thanks Mick! Seems like we are on track.. Do you know anything about the caves? I read a few reviews on them but wonder if our time would be better spent doing something else. I would love to hear from others as well yes |

| I think the Caves of Drach are excellent Barb, however, they are a fair way away from Palma and I'm not sure you should commit to that, seeing as you aren't on the Island for that long a time. It will probably eat up three quarters of a day either on a dedicated trip or by public transport. The open top bus is a great way to see Palma as well. I think walking around the cathedral and surrounding streets will give you your fill of architecture for the trip. It's a big City and you could do more than one day there. If you are there on a Wednesday, you could take the bus to Andratx (Town) as there is a huge market there on Wednesdays, it's not all tourist tat, sights sounds smells colours all come alive with this trip. You could also walk around the (public, free entry) Cactus Gardens in town, they are well maintained and a good relaxing half hour. There's lots to do in Mallorca (vineyard tours around the town of Binnissalem are also good), but you are a little more limited without a car. You'll have a great time anyway |

| Thank you all for your suggestions. As of now we plan a day in Palma ( I read its a very walkable city and we are big walkers so the tour bus may not be necessary) one day for Soller and one day boat trip the last day we may just do a trip to Valledemosa. I would love a trip that goes all over the island just like a day tour of the whole island but I don't see that and ones that I see spend a bit of time in Soller which we want to do for a full day so that might be a waste to do it twice. |

| Sorry to say Barb but not many of us on here regularly go to Palma (the city) and Soller to be able to recommend restaurants, I mean we've all been but we have our favourite towns to stay at, for me it's Palmanova and the F & C's BBQ resto right on the sea front does steaks that are as good as anywhere, it's a must every trip for us to have one from there. Yum! |

| Hopefully Dadsbarmy will be on to let you know about restaurants in Soller as he lives near there. He might also recommend places in Palma for you as well Barb. _________________ Mick

| I know this topic is old now, but maybe someone can still benefit. One great option in Mallorca is Restaurante Xoriguer - A Basque restaurant. Seafood and steak are exceptional here.
