| I've been reading reports that Calvia Council are being busybodies these days. Just a month after giving the ok for BCM Square to re-open (now called Magaluf Square btw), they have now issued closure orders on the main four bars, to close their 'outside' areas. So the bars are actually open but you can't go outside with your drinks, which is a lot of use in a summer holiday resort Something to do with not complying with planning permission 'conditions' is the official line. I'd read into that making too much external noise. Similarly, Papis bar is currently closed, about a month since it opened up, with hurried alterations taking place. It seems like the owner closed up the frontage with patio doors (that are open fully during the daytimes), without planning permission, a good few years ago now. Have a look on Google streetview at the shop next door (same archway) and that's what it should look like. So the doors are being removed, and seemingly refitted a metre or two inside, - which is going to make the whole of the inside a good deal narrower. I hear that the doors were fitted like that initially because of noise prevention, now they are being made to move them back again. It certainly seems to me that Calvia is undergoing a 'clean up' operation on the whole Magaluf area, they clearly want to be rid of Magaluf as it's best known for. The new, and last, Sol Melia hotel is due to open in a months time, where the old Sol Jamaica was. I suspect that might have something to do with it. In the meantime, the late night mugging situation is now so bad that locals are gathering together at 4am to escort home bar workers (that are sober) who are being targeted, - with the police standing by and letting it happen. Not that any of this really bothers me as I don't go there anymore for the after midnight offerings, I think the daytimes and early evenings are right up my street, and go there for that. |

| Yep its getting very seedy now, last year I took Debbie back to the hotel early as she was knackered and I went out for a couple of more drinks myself, I walked down the middle of the road back to the hotel keeping myself away from street corners and dark alleys, I had to threaten one of those prostitutes to keep back. Its really bad situation now and as you say day time and early evenings are great but late at night its a different place altogether.
I dont understand why the police do nothing, they seem very uncaring and maybe its because of the young idiots around getting drunk and disrespecting the area which I can understand doing the job I do seeing the same thing but I still couldnt sit back and watch someone getting hurt or mugged. _________________ |

| As a lot of people have said Daryn, including most of us on MF, the authorities will do something about the problem if, God forbid, somebody gets badly hurt or worse. _________________ Mick

| Well you wouldn't believe it but, following on from the first nights 'meet up', which resulted in the 'prostitutes' being hounded out of town down to Palmanova seafront, they went the very next day to the police station and made statements against the 'offenders', which resulted in them being summoned by the police. 'Denouncias' they call it. Something to do with affecting their right to 'trade'. Laughable. Seems the reason the cops don't do anything about it, is a passing of the buck situation, seems that it's only the national police that can act against them, and not the 'local' police. And the local police have to actually witness a crime (robbery/mugging) to be able to act. All with the councils approval, who reckon that the problem isn't as bad this year https://majorcadailybulletin.com/news/local/2018/05/26/52011/more-protests-against-magalluf-prostitutes.html |

| Blinkers springs to mind as we and everyone else know the crack. As for them not being able to trade or these people paying tax, most criminals in the past have been untouchable until they get brought down for tax reasons. _________________ |

| Apparently the ones making the 'denouncias' had full paperwork, so they were there legally. I doubt that a full set of accounts were submitted and tax was paid though |

| Unbelievable that one Dads. Straight out of a dark room into the bright sunlight she must have gone. Blind as a bat. |
