Not sure if you guys have been reading this in the bulletin but the guy that owns BCM is under investigation.

Over the years it has been alleged that he has had the polcie bribed in order to close down any competion etc (amongst other allegations).

This could mean BCM gets closed down until investigation have taken place.

Sounds murky!

I was reading something about this guy not so long ago, it just goes to show how corrupt the police are over there.

He has been in this game since the late 60s so bound to be some history!

Not sure if you recall, I read a book by an English guy that went to Mallorca in 67 and stayed until the 90s!

Anyway he was funded by the guy!!!

Apparently the owner is a Bartolomè Cursach Mas hence the BCM name of the club. Quite a big round up of Cursach cronies.
Also a DJ & booker who gets the acts to come to BCM is a guy called Gordon Phillips from Essex apparently Ro, do you know him mate lol.

Blimey! I have a few pals that know him! He has been over there a few years too.

There's been a further development today in that a judge has ordered all the assets be listed as there is a growing concern that the police were hitting other bars and imposing fines for made up stuff to try and force the other bars out of business.
Seems like there's going to be a compo claim from a group of these affected alternative bar owners.

The depth of scandal and backhanders out there is out of the ark.

Whether compensation gets paid out remains to be seen, but if the whole business is run on backhanders (as it appears), it must be happening on all levels.

The level of corruption is mind boggling. Not just big business. Didn't several members of the Police recently get arrested and charged.
The way that nothing ever gets done about the late night muggings from the African women says it all. It just wouldn't happen in any other major European City, there'd be uproar. Or vigilantes.
So what role does the EU play in all this? The corruption bit. Surely they have some sort of powers to veto or block Countries that are playing at being criminals.

Im not condoning it but if this is the way they do business (and have done for generations) then how do you change the culture overnight?

Who knows, the people doing the investigations are also corrupt and have their own agendas????

I think you are right Ro, it seems there are quite a few greedy fingers in the pie. A bung will turn a blind eye or hassle another bar/club if the money is right.

TBH I think the awarding of contracts on building sites still seems to operate like this (I mean in the UK).
I know of a surveyor who bought a travel brochure to work with a villa with a circle around it, and gave it to the scaffolding boss.

Just on a slight tangent but it looks like to me that BCM Square has closed down for good, place had tumbleweed blowing through it, all the bars were well and truly packed up.

Looks like a ghost town there Mark. That used to be rammed in the summer, doesn't look like that is going to happen this year.

Yeah I've read that too. But people I know out there are saying that the smaller clubs/bars are enjoying a more steady attendance all through the night because people aren't leaving to go to BCM.

I wonder how it will affect the numbers, mainly of young uns, going to Magaluf when they know that BCM still could be shut?
