As you know we stayed at Burntisland last weekend, at San's brother & SiL's house, just thought I would show a few photo's & a video of the town & the surrounding area.
We took the Fife Coastal route to Burntisland, which I thoroughly recommend, if you are ever in this part of Scotland. This is a brief outlay of the route.
Fife Coastal Route - 85miles/136km
Between the Firths of Forth and Tay lies the historic Kingdom of Fife. Best known is St Andrews, "Home of Golf" and seat of Scotland's oldest university. Just to the south of St Andrews are the picturesque villages of the East Neuk with their distinctive pantiled roofs and unspoilt beaches. More golden sands can be enjoyed at Burntisland and Aberdour. Less than 30 minutes from Scotland's modern capital is the country's ancient capital, Dunfermline, "The Westminster of the North" and final resting place of Robert the Bruce. Don't miss Deep Sea World at North Queensferry where the longest underwater safari will take you exploring far beneath the waves. Further west is 16th century Culross, an outstanding example of a 16th century town. Whether you approach the Fife Coastal Route from Edinburgh to the south or Dundee to the north you can be sure of spectacular scenery and first class attractions.
On the way to Burntisland, from Aberdour, there is a viewing point that looks over the Firth of Forth towards Edinburgh. San took a few photo's & a video of what we saw. This photo is of the two bridges, the rail bridge is the nearer one, with the road bridge, which is going to be replaced, in the background.

A lot of islands are along the Forth, that were heavily fortified during the second world war. As they were protecting Edinburgh & Rosyth, the Naval port on the Forth.

The start of the video is from the Forth road & rail bridges heading along the coast towards North Berwick. The scenery & view is absolutely stunning, so sorry that the video doesn't do it justice.

On the Sunday I went for a walk with Billy & the kids, (not Billy the Kid before anyone wisecracks), & took a few more photo's of Burntisland & it's surrounding countryside. Luckily, it was a beautiful sunny day.
This is the Binn, a volcanic plug, which is over 630 feet high.

A few photo's now from a viewing point overlooking the town of Burntisland & also out towards the Forth. The first photo shows where the Highland games is held in the summer, on the grass area. Burntisland is home to the second oldest highland games in the world starting in 1652. The Games take place on the third Monday of July, the start of the Fife/Glasgow fair fortnight, and a local market and summer fairground takes place on the same day.

A view over towards Edinburgh, where on the far right is a hill called Arthur's seat, which is part of Holyrood Park.

Arthur's seat is the second hill from the left in this photo, looking towards Edinburgh again, with the Pentland Hills in the background.

that was a lovely review of a area I have been too. I live in Dunfermline and Deepsea world is a great place to visit.
