| no doubt it's happened to us all at some time or another. the last time it happened to me was in a night club where i gave the barmaid a £20 note and was given change of a tenner. the barmaid argued black and blue that it was a tenner i gave her so i called for the manager and he said the would check the till/takings at the end of the night and if i was proved right they would refund me my money, never heard no more from it. so what i do now is i rip a corner off the note so if i get short changed i can prove what note i used because i can match the two back together. a simple little trick handy anywhere you go,can save you money and a lot of hassle |

| A very useful subject to raise yozef.Hotel Protur Alicia in Cala Bona. After Hotel Son Matias Beach,Palma Nova, it is one of TUI's most-booked hotels in Majorca.Used to be in Portland programme but from 2011 Portland is no more (RIP) and it is in Thomson brochure.
On 4 occasions in a fortnight when watching the evening entertainment (very good also as it is in H Son Matias) I ordered drinks for 2 from a wandering bar waiter, paid for them with a 20 euro note and waited for my change. It never came. I had to identify the waiter later and collar him. There was never a problem getting my change on demand with evidence of my till receipt but it shouldn't happen. As I said to Mrs WS I wonder how many times they have got away with it with elderly more forgetful customers.Must have been many times for them to persist.I thought the hotel was tops, nearly as good as Son Matias but those experiences left a nasty taste. As yozef says be alert. |

| If you exchange money in a dubious place for the first time, take a picture of your the notes with their numbers on and you have proof that they were your notes given over in a dispute |
