| Yes, we still have our aol homepage, but not too sure if it'll stay as we've canceled our contract with them.

| Send the same e-mail to everyone on your AOL address book.Just ask them to send you an e-mail to your btinternet e-mail address after **/**/**** (date on which you know for sure you will have changed your ISP from AOL).Tell them why and that you are not asking for any news.I learned this method from a buddy who did just this.
I am with AOL Broadband.I know AOL were very badly criticised by their customers in the Which? magazine ISP customer satisfaction survey.I am not happy with them or their software but I can't be ar88ed changing over. Also I have just been offered and have taken a £6 a month reduction in my ISP charges for locking in to them for another 18 months. |

| Yes nananutnut Ive checked and you dont have to change your email account you can still use the same one even though you have moved to a different service provider. you can also use any search engine it doesnt have to be BT or AOL ,I use google chrome and for my search engine as its really fast for email I use MSN Hotmail but my service provider is Virgin. :-bd: Hope this helps ,if you need anymore help then we are you to get you there hehehe _________________ |

| WS that is a great idea, thank you - now why didn't we think of that!! We have had problems in the past, but recently they have been ok. The main reason we have changed is that we are surrounded by trees & our sky plays up something awful most of the time, so we want to go to bt vision & it obviously needs bt broadband. We all love footy & now bt are showing sports 1 & 2. We've been with aol for about 18 years or so. The other thing is we were only getting 1mb speed with them & already it has gone up with bt, we were told that aol put a limit on your speeds & I think this is true. Thanks for that great idea, will do that. |

| Beware! I was with AOL when I first got t'internet and I was unwise enough to use only that for my emails. Fast forward about three years when they cancelled the freephone helpline and I switched. On the last day all my emails disappeared. It turned out to be a known issue at the time, there was no way of retrieving them. It was their way of getting revenge I think. Grrr. What I'd do is copy down the addresses of all your contacts, and then go through all the emails you've saved or that you want to save, and forward them to a web based email address like hotmail. There are plenty of sites out there and easy to set up. I resolved then and there always to use web based email so you can retrieve emails if your computer or provider goes west. And this method is also good if you keep holiday booking emails there, if you lose anything you can access them while abroad. |

| Like Daryn, my internet provider (ISP) is Virgin, but I kept my aol software open, as it's soooo sooooo simple for emails. Basically, once you've switched over ISP's, on the aol sign on screen, you just have to use the 'search for a connection' type button, and set up the new way to connect that way. It's simple. You can then carry on using aol like you've always done, but slowly work your way over to using google chrome is my advice, it's faster, also it provides virtually a full screen when you open a web page. |

| Now look ere you lot..........................they don't call me nannynutnut for nothing!!!!!!!!!!! I like the aol email thingy cos I understand it..well sort of. I have just forwarded my holiday emails to our bt address so I will keep them ok. As for all this other jargon like ISP etc gets me so muddled. At the moment I have aol open & am checking emails that way, providing they let me keep it I am ok I think.................ohh I can feel a large voddie & coke coming on |

| Lol ISP = Internet Service Provider And all the ISP does is provide the connection. You can use whatever 'software' you like, ie aol, hotmail google, yahoo etc |

| I think I am getting it now - well as close as a nutnut is gonna get. I would normally have left this to himself, but he is on the laptop in the kitchen trying to download music for this sat, as our beloved daughter is having a surprise 30th party for her hubby & couldn't find a DJ ( Daryn why don't you live down south???) - at so short notice Thank you for your understanding of this very naive nutnut. |
