We decided to go to Vilamoura one day, as we had had a bit too much sun the day before. So yours truly drove, using the toll road to get there. We parked the car, & went for a walk heading towards the Marina. The place seemed a tad upmarket compared to Albufeira, as will be seen soon.

This was a fabulous looking Hotel, with some very expensive looking yachts in front of it. How the other half live hey?

Walking past this Hotel, we heard a lot of birds flying around the place, not seagulls, before you say anything Mark. But they had made their nest's under the roofs of these Apartments.

Some more yachts, on a lesser scale, in the Marina.

We were quite thirsty, so we found a Bar by the Marina, where they had Cocktails & I had to have a Coke as I was driving.

This is one me & Brian caught earlier, it put up a struggle, but we still landed it in.

These are more like we would catch.

Even more yachts on the other side of the Marina.

Some lovely Restaurants around the Marina, with some nice prices, 7 euro's for an English Breakfast.

A lot of Golfer's stay here as there are some Top Golf Courses in the area, so I suppose that is why the price's are slightly higher. But a very nice few hours that we spent there, in a very nice place. It reminded me of Puerto Banus or Benalmadena Marina a bit.
Just as we were walking back to our car, which we thought that we had left in a free parking space, a Traffic Warden type guy, was checking the cars. Luckily we got into the car & drove off just before he was about to come to us. We then took the back road, which was windier, but it seemed much quicker, back to Albufeira. I would recommend a day in Vilamoura, if you are ever on the Algarve, if you are not staying there of course.

The restaurant on your last pic was one of our favourites -" Nosolo Italia "

The sizes of the pizzas and pasta dishes were HUGE.....................

They had an ice cream section to the side - but I was always too stuffed to try one !

That did look a nice Restaurant Beeech, would definitely go back there for a night next time. Also it isn't that far from Albufeira TBH, if that is where people stay.

I stayed in the Atlantis hotel, right on the beach.
We used to sleep with the patio doors open and be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves.
Other than that - it lacked that rustic/authentic feel that I prefer . . it was a bit too man made for me.
But right on the doorstep of Slide and Splash for the kids.

They were very nice apparently mate or so they told me. They did let me eat the pineapple though.

Yeah, pretty sure we ate there one night when we went there. But it was in 1986 so I can't be sure. Good stuff anyway. Did you also go to Qautiera Mick, the next town down the road?
