Since last year the Pueblo Marinero has under gone changes, they have changed / introduced some of their rooms into premier room. These rooms command the best sea and pool views at an additional cost from last year. However, unless you pay for premier room you are unlikely to get the good views
So lets see what you get for your money beyond last year
The dining/lounge has been repainted and wallpapered added down one side, also there are new curtains. The sofa and chairs have just been recovered and the original table and sideboard have had a glass top added to them to save wear.
the old sofa is recovered, with an additional lamp for effect
Above there is an air condition grill but on enquiring it only works when switched on by the hotel in the summer months, we didn't need any air condition for December. Also I was told that apartments with double rooms at the back of the complex do not have air condition at all. Other than the blue paint this was the same as last year
The kitchen area, which has a mircowave, toaster and kettle as per last year. Also the two ringed cooker and the fridge remains the same
the electric rings
the toaster, an essential item for us
the fridge with a complementary bottle of sparking wine, which was a nice gesture, not sure whether it was given as a returning guest
Around the door has been painted blue but the rest of the kitchen area remains the same except for a fancy coffee machine which had two coffee shots provided
The new coffee machine, plus this year we had a bottle of washing up liquid, a sponge and a dish dryer provided
Hotel towels provided have been through the mill many times and they could all do with being replaced, being picky now lol
cutlery is still the same stuff
this other equipment we don't use
looks like a murder committed under those knives
The wine glasses were left with the bottle of wine, now we find those cups are a bit small, so we bring our own,
Now other things in the room, the same TV as last year, of the 20 channels, you can only get BBC world news, sky news and CNN in English apart from two Arab channels which show a lot of films in English with arabic subtitles but they are only at the bottom of the screen and are not too bad to watch
something new is this IPOD docking station thing but not used by us
Now the bedroom, which to me always looked ok before but it does look better
so now, it has new curtains and bedding, including duvets and new head board, the wall was papered down one side and painted the other, cushions and robes were provided but we don't use them
again the dresser has a glass top and a lamp for effect
wardrobe is the same as last year, so to me it looks nice but is really all cosmetic
Now the apartments weakess point it's bathroom which IMO is it's achilles heel
The bath has a fixed screen and access to the taps behind is not easy and the bathroom tap is slow to discharged the water in a little ring spray fashion and will take an age to fill a bath
however all is not lost, as the shower spray will actually reach into the bath lol, no beating the Delboys
His and hers matching sinks but we don't get up together lol
toilet is fine and the walls have just had a paint but lets just say the piping is small lol and you are requested not to put paper down
which leaves the outside areas
They have a snack bar there with a TV but watching a football match the satellite would annoyingly cut 5 minutes from each half and it would have to be rejigged to get the match back, large beer 3 euro's, snacks were reasonably priced. Tables and chairs are new and I think the TV was too
All the old sunbeds have gone and various beds have replace them
The swimming pool is just the same and I asked a lady what the temperature was like and she said sort of luke warm, I think it is heated but to a low temperature
The jacuzzi is now working, it wasn't last year
various areas have been grassed over with artificial grass
They have a small tennis court between apartment blocks, new balls please
There has been a lot of improvements in the lighting around the place and probably nice to sit out on a summer evening
even the flower tubs light up which is a nice touch
you have a card key which lets you in the bottom gate at night
Reception has had a face lift with new lighting and sofas
now if you haven't already been kindled, there is a book shelf to borrow books
Internet facilities was a euro for 20 minutes worth but you could go on for less if your quick
Here's a nice touch you can hire an ipad for 5 euro's a day but will only work in reception or in the bar area but will not work in your room
or better still is this one that apparently works anywhere for 6 euro's a day or less for a weeks hire
The safe hire is still 18 euro's a week
The front entrance which is locked late at night and entrance by your card
also there is a taxi rank opposite
plenty of parking outside due to the shopping centre opposite
so the selection of views depends on whether you pay the premium or not
a view we had from our first year
all in all a nice adult only hotel with just a few mentioned glitches
