We were chatting on the rock and discussing what we would like to do next year, we thought about having the meet up on the first Monday of October. Nothing cast in stone yet but that was the proposal, it knackered me again arriving after having no sleep for over 24hours and straight on the drink. Hoping this fits in with everyone else , if we can get it sorted early then everyone will be able to get there flights as soon as they come out and get them cheap.

First thing to take into account-we were very lucky with the weather this year.We can't expect that every year.As this year many delegates,the majority go for longer stays around the date of the meet-up so for them the weather is more important than for the short-hoppers who fly in:meetup:flyout.

In favour of Oct date, flights and hotels will be a bit cheaper and generally places will be quieter.For late September slightly better chance of good weather and more daylight hours.I think I will go for a week next time maybe even 10 days.

Does the set day have to be a Saturday or a Sunday? Why?

My vote is for last Saturday in September 2012.

Weekends are a killer for me as I would have been to work the night before that what has happened the last 2 meet ups also I lose the bulk of my wages if I take the night off before the meet up, Debbie is also stuck with flying out Sunday to Wednesday for her job, I will do it again on the Sunday if others cant fit in on the Monday mind just trying to work it out for everyone

The meet can be on any day of the week as far as i'm concerned.

I would bring it forward by 2 weeks myself, 2nd or 3rd week of sep, weather still good normally, price difference isn't enough to worry about, once august has passed the price drops by a lot anyway.

I've been looking at different deals. Monarch, from Gatwick, best deal for me at the moment, nice flight times, Wednesday 26th Sep for a week (4th Oct return) £115 each inc baggage

C'as Saboners for these dates, with 20% discount, coming in at 340 euros, that's near enough £300. Don't have to pay that until next year when you arrive though seemingly.

So that's about £265 each, no transfers.

If Debs wants to book the same flights/dates we can share a Galitrans transfer?


C'as Saboners is opening early next season, from 14 April. (Saturday) One week coming in at €189... about £176. Easyjet flights (LGW) £110 each inc CC card charge.
So £198 each for a week. (no transfer obviously)

Funny enough Mark, I have been looking to maybe go for a fortnight next meet. Going out 24th sept - 8th oct, I can get flights with Monarch & room via alpharooms all booked together - can't remember exactly how much. But I am supposedly getting a 10% discount from Alpha..... think it was something in the region of £650 inc luggage but not transfers, I will try Galitrans next year.

We had that week beginning of sept with our friends & it went so quick, thought I'd book for longer this time (Don doesn't know yet I'll book it & then tell him nearer the time)

Well we found that 2 weeks was probably 3 or 4 days too long

And what with not knowing what we will be doing next year we didn't want to commit to a 2 week holiday just yet.

I confess to having started it for 2012 dates.But that was for flights.You all went off on one re digs

At last I have found satisfactory flights for next year.Monarch MAN-PMI-MAN.Good price just over £100 return (plus baggage charge) and decent flight times.Bye bye for now easyJet,Jet2 and Ryanair.So when the Meet Cabinet has agreed the date I am booking my flights-but not my digs yet.

Got back yesterday, & in the afternoon we were looking at prices already. :-bd: The withdrawal symptoms have set in already, so we had to have a cheeky look.

WS has booked his flights for 2012 meet.Ended up costing exactly double what they cost this year but that's the premium price I have to pay for afternoon flights.So it doesn't matter to me which night the meet is Saturday, Sunday or Monday last weekend in September as all are well covered.

Will wait until the sales start before booking digs and car hire.It's the flights that lack flexibility.

Flights with ZB.Car hire I predict will be with Sixt.Digs will be either Sol Mirlos probably (again-boring me but the supaprice for a solo in a double room All Inclusive cannot be ignored and there is entertainment) or Saboners.

Debdon a few q re Saboners.Is there a bar onsite? Do they do meals for guests who don't want to DIY if so what are they like-breakfast I mean? Fridge in room? Air-con efficient? Clean? How often are towels/bedding changed (barring accidents )? Can you stand up in the shower hands-free? WiFi?

I haven't told MrsWS yet.Had thought about us both taking a week's HB Thomson package at Son Matias spanning the meet,pre-meet,post-meet then I realised she wouldn't enjoy it -and neither would I.So birds of a feather etc.......

Yes WS there is a bar, open 9am - midnight every day.

Meals, - they cook all day in the bar area inc brekkie's. Food is ok although pretty basic.

Fridge in room as it is self catering apartments (Full size, most with icebox)

Air con brilliant & free, you have your own thermostats, 1 in lounge area & 1 in bedroom - we had the lounge one on this time which filtered through just right instead of having bedroon one on as it was bit chilly during the night.

Cleanish - its not immaculate but clean enough for every day use.

Maids come in mon, weds & friday beds are change once a week.

Every apartment we've stayed in has a bath with shower over which is attached to the wall, it doesn't come down but the shower part swivels (Ithink)

Lastly, there is free wifi in the reception, I used it every day this time with my netbook, also works in the bar where you can sit at one of the tables during the daytime or in reception if entertainment on in the bar. They also have their own pay for internets - 1 eu for 15 mins I think it was.

Its not expensive so in my mind you get what you pay for - it is def not the Ritz I'm sure it would be adequate for your short break WS. :tup:

deffo s/c for us next time,got a bit sick of being tied to the hotel/meal times,prefer to eat what i want,when i want.

paid for a/i and had 3 pints in the hotel was not really fussed on the food anyway,still you live and learn
