ALL ROUND GOOD GUY

Not so much a review of a resort, just a short trip down memory lane. As most of you know, I ran a bar in Arroyo from February 2004 until December 2005 called The Horseshoe.

Me serving in the bar in 2004, how young do I look.

A BBQ with a load of my regulars, that apparently went on until 7.45 in the morning, after I had shut a few hours earlier.

This is the bar now, El Capricho owned & run by a very nice Spanish lady, who myself & Becky met on our first day.

This blue board, behind the El Capricho sign, attached to the white metal bar, is my old Horseshoe sign, still there after nearly 12 years.

A view of the Indian/Mexican restaurant next door, very tasty food there.

The vegetable shop & Othelli restaurant next door, run by Fiona & Mike who Nanny Jen knows.

Arroyo/Benalmadena is served by a fantastic train service operated by http://www.andalucia.com/travel/airports/malaga/train-station.htm

Heading from the train station towards the town of Arroyo.

The train pulling out is heading towards Fuengirola. The price from Arroyo to Fuengirola is 1.80 euro's each or 3.60 return, great value.

The train pulling in on our way to the Airport. The price to the Airport was 2.60 euro's each, amazing value, considering it would be just over 30 euro's by taxi.

I was told by an old customer of mine, that in Arroyo, 16 British run bars when I was there, are either closed down/gone or are now run by Spanish, which is both sad in one breath & understandable in another. I would strongly recommend a visit to here, as it is a most beautiful place.

Nice one mate, we have been there before as well. We used the train as transfer to Torremolinos when we stayed there as well, and went out one night up to Benalmedina, had a walk down towards the sea, was going to try and find the Sunset Beach Club where we'd stayed before, but it was a bit far, we ended up having drinks in the 'square' near to the station before heading home. I remember it as being very Spanish as well.

You are right Del, the beer barrels to buy, us Brit bars paid more TBH, but we were in their country I suppose. I tried to keep my prices reasonable compared to others, ie I bought bottles of Mahou for 50 cents & sold them for a euro, still 100% profit, but others were charging 1.20 euro's upwards.

That sounds like either Mezquita or Fountain square there Mark, lovely areas to sit & drink in.
