I spoke to a representative from Thos Cook on Sunday, regarding passport travel cards (The card where you preload euros etc). The manager of the shop is not recommending the card at the moment for people going to Greece due to the crisis. If things get out of hand in the next few weeks there may be a run on the ATM's leaving holidaymakers with no cash.
This of course may also apply to your credit card, a euro in the hand is worth two in an ATM not providing them
Although I dont anticipate any problems, cash is king but with all it's downfalls

Have you been talking to Wirral? The Greeks cannot take out more than they have in their bank accounts, and they are not known as a nation of savers.

jan just said we took £500 and brought back £80!!
we were on a b&b basis so ate out every lunch time, mostly snacks like salads, omelette's ect, then we went out for the evening meal every night, mostly 2/3 course meals with the local plonk.
that also includes ale, teas, coffees water ect.
no trips has we have done all that in the past, though we did hire bikes for a day.
when you consider we only paid £480 for two that works out at a pretty cheap holiday.
