| Hi and welcome to the forum Ive been to Alcudia once, the beaches are lovely, Its different from many other resorts as the coastal walk along the beech is mostly made of of residential properties, not many bars along the beach at all but bars and restaurants are just off on the side streets. As your looking at the sea from the beach walk path if you look to your left there is a nice little part with bars and restaurants its like a small marina/port hence the name Port de Alcudia, we used to love walking down there. I dont know how many times you have been to Spain/abroad or what it is you expect TBH it could be for you but may not be for you, Im used to Palma Nova /Magaluf so always seem to compare resorts with these two. I saw lots of photos of Alcudia and done a bit reseach before I went, it was a nice place but not somewhere I would want to go back to unless it was really cheap, the coach journey from the airport seemed to take forever but it would cost a fortune by taxi to get there. I also didnt think it was one of these bargain holidays when it came to eating and drinking out, pretty much more expensive to what Im used to paying abroad with a pint of lager on average costing €3, lunch was costing us about €7 each for a pizza etc but as I said it was about 5 years ago now I think, but everywhere went up in price and now they all seem to be dropping the prices so fingers crossed Alcudia has done the same. One bar/restaurant we used to go to every day and thats why I have not forgot the name is the Los Palmitos which was across the road from Astorai Playa apartments, it was the best value for money we could find and it was found just of the main road beside a tourist/excursion shop. The staff were really nice and friendly. If its a bit lively time you want we came across this very long road with lots of bars and cafe's/restaurants you need to be on the road called Avinguda de Pere Más i Reus, write it down and ask everyone there will know it, its not far from the Bellevue complex which is a huge place, or ask for Casa Del Dragon Buffet restaurant that is the very beginning of that road and you need to walk towards the Sol Alcudai Centre hotel this is the long road for a bit action. Now you may think Im clever remembering road names but Im not lol, I always remember the streets Ive walked around and where everything is it gets superimposed on my brain lol I had to look up the street name on a map though . Hope this helps a little and enjoy your holiday's, also please keep us posted and bring some photos back for us pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee _________________ |

| Thanks for all this information Daryn. I reall appreciate your help.
We go away most years to Spain, Portugal, Canary Islands etc. on package holidays so I am hoping this will be a similar lively family friendly resort. I have been to Majorca before (Magaluf) but not since I have had the family. I went there on a lads holiday about 15 years or so ago and had a fantastic time. What a place! This year my mom and dad are coming with us and mom didn't fancy Magaluf so we plumpted for Alcudia. I think Magaluf is a little too lively for her.
I will travel down to Magaluf one of the days while I am on holiday though to have a few beers and a look around and see if I remember any of it. We all bought T shirts from a tiny bar in town called Uncle Tom's when I was last there. I will bring it with me just in case the bar is still open, but I don't suppose it is still there.
I am hoping to find some family bars in Alcudia to take the kids to of an evenig with a bit of entertainment for them. They are aged from 3 to 12 so if anybody knows of anywhere I would be greatful.
Thanks again for all your help Daryn, and I will post some photos when I get back.
Cheers mate. |

| I can't believe they are still there. I think it was '97 or '98 that we were there.
About ten of us went on holiday, We pretty much filled the place when we all went in.
Is it still run by the same lttle Spanish man? Anthony I think his name was. He had a really dry sense of humour.
We would go in most nights on the way to the nightclubs. He used to sell pasties that his sister made. Great to line the stomach before a big drink. |

| Yes Jim it is the same guy, he never looks that happy though. 10 of you would fill that bar, but it is a great little drinking bar. I have spent a lot of money on Mojito's in there as well. According to San, he makes the best ones in Magaluf Jim. A well deserved rep for you as well Jim, to get you up & running mate. _________________ Mick

| Thanks Mick.
No he doesn't smile too much.
One of the lads I went with is half Spanish so would speak to him alot. We ended up having quite a bit of banter with him. |

| That is a fair point Jim, as your mate would chat away to him. I wish I had learnt Spanish when I lived out there. But if San is happy with her drink, then he is one of my favourite Bar owners mate. _________________ Mick
