| hi we have booked our car hire for next week (yes, next week eeeekkkk ) and as we dont use credit cards, we had to find a company who accepts debit cards..... 'Record'. after reading trip advisor, i imagine those of you who are in the know, probably gasped when i said record lol. are they really that bad? i know that because we are paying by debit card, we have to take out this comfort plus insurance and also buy a tank of fuel but i hear the cars are awful, the queues at the airport are horrendous ..... honestly, are record that bad? we have booked a 5dr fiesta (or similar ) thank you xx kate xx |

| They are not the best, but they are not horrendous, It is all a matter of perception and accepting their conditions and charges, they charge you for a full tank of petrol charged at 5% above forecourt price. Make sure that any marks or damage is noted by them and when returning the car have it inspected and agreed by them. A friend of mine only had a debit card (he couldn't have a credit card because he had been bankrupt) And he had to use Record and found them acceptable |

| I've used them and pretty much the things that are said are true.
But Bad?? No, not really, just niggles. Long queue at airport, took 40 mins. I started queing while the missus waited for the bags... which took 25 mins anyway. Then you are obliged to take their 'all risks' insurance, or pay a €600 deposit... for €25 ish I figured it wasn't worth the hassle. It also saves then having to note all the little dinks and scratches on the car. Full tank of fuel was €80 I think, about €10 more than pump price. The car was functional, not the best appearence (no hub caps for a start) but it's not a fashion show. Car was 2 years old, a Ford Focus, with about 35k miles on the clock. All the air con and stuff worked.
But hey ho, you're in and away in about an hour.
You return the car in the multi storey opposite the terminal building, far corner on right from the entrance. |
