me and my partner are staying here from the 12th may and i have serious concerns.

trip advisor reviews have stated that muggins have been rife over the last week inside the hotel, people being mugged in lifts, no security and police raids almost daily. stags and hens running riot over the hotel and striping in front of the kiddies.

seriously considering not going all . thomas cook advertised this as a family hotel and it dosen't seem that at all. it's our first time abroad and im really nervous as it is.

any advice on how to keep safe money etc

Hi Chally, have you tried ringing Thomas Cook, to see if you can change your accomodation, if you are that worried about it.? If not, if I was you the first thing to do when you book in at reception, is make sure you hire a safe in your room for sure. Don't let all these stories totally put you off, as you will have a great time I am sure.

my partner want's to stick with the hotel in the hopes that it's not as bad as everyone is making out, don't know if there's much we can do when we get there if it is really that bad lol. palma nova looks such a beautiful place and im really excited to experience it but also a little nervous aswell lol, i suppose its like that for everyone their first time lol.

I am certainly not saying these stories are not true, but may be over exaggerated. Bad news spreads quicker than good TBH Chally. Hundreds of people must have been staying at the Mimosa Park as well, & probably had an absolute fabulous time, but not much of a mention of that. It is understandable that doubts have gone into your head, after reading these stories. But TBH with you, I have never heard of the Mimosa Park having trouble before, so that was a new one to me. A lot of Hotels don't open up usually until the 1st of May, but as there are always a lot of Stags, Hens or birthday do's to Magaluf/Palma Nova, it seems that a few more have opened up earlier to get this trade. Possibly with less staff as normal, hence not as much security about.
I talked my partner in to going out to Magaluf in 2006, as she had never been there before, & like you I was nervous in case she didn't like it. We have been to Magaluf/Palma Nova area 10 times in the last 6 years, & can honestly say, hand on heart, we have never seen trouble. Also very understandable that you want it to be perfect, as you are celebrating your 10th anniversary. We go out there on the 15th of May for 8 days, & as you have seen my avatar photo, at least you can avoid us if you see us. But if you see us just say Hi, we don't bite, honest.

Ive always said where ever there is tourism there will always be someone looking to exploit it, no matter where you are and what country you are in so its not just that hotel it can be any hotel.

The mimosa park hotel is on the main back road that circles Palma Nova and heads toward Magaluf, it is a bit of a busy road and opposite some rather nice posh villas. Im sorry that the doubts have been put in your mind but as Mick has said you tend too hear of more the bad points than the good points, Ive never stayed in the hotel so cant really comment on the accommodation TBH.

Mick hit a good point with why not ask the tour operator if you can change to a different hotel in the area, maybe come back to us and let us know what has been offered to you. If not then I wouldn't spoil your holiday before you get there. Its May so will still be quiet so this cuts the chances of stag parties etc. Palma Nova is a relatively nice place to stay but the cheaper hotels have a better chance of young people staying in them, THIS does not mean you can only relax around that pool. You can practically go to any hotel and relax. Just use the hotel as somewhere to stay but go to other hotels and use there pools.

Here is some other reviews, the hotel seems average mixed bag of reviews really. Ive stayed at good hotels in Magaluf that Ive had problems with the youngins before so that can happen anywhere. Its the luck of the draw where ever you stay, at least its off season so there is a good chance to have a relaxing holiday.

thats a great little page you got there with great advice, we just going anyway and hoping for the best, and try and forget the reviews and judge it for our selves lol.

i didn't know you can use the pools at other hotels, i think i would feel a bit cheeky

glad to see you are going with a positive attitude,that's the spirit.

we have stayed at the mimosa,but a good few years ago and it was fine.good food,drink,clean and tidy.there is also a nice raised sun bathing area for that was child free....ah peace and quite,lol.

we never saw any problems with stag/hen groups,remember too these folk usually go for the weekend so you may not see a lot of them,if any at all in may.

as mick said please report back on your stay,nice to have a upto date review of the mimosa.

if you go out the back via the pool you come across o'neils irish bar,nice place to sit with a cold one and the meals are nice too.

oneills is a bit pricey for my fave tipple,cider,think it,s 4e....wow

yet in our fave bar the orion it's e3.20,no doubt it will be cheaper if you scout about.

as your is o/h a lager man,usually you can find some good deals about,especially if he drinks the local brews.

if you want a good,but early start to your evening get yourselves down to the piano bar in the far end of magaluf by about 5-ish for some banging tunes and a brilliant atmosphere,believe me it's a great crack

We've been to the Mimosa Park on three occasions once with our 3yr old g/daughter over the last eight years and never had a problem. 2010 was our last visit, one gentleman in particular was always drunk, a man returned from the shops carrying a bag (possibly packs of ciggies) the drunk grabbed him and both ended up in the water with the bag, I'm glad and he's glad he didn't do it to me.

There's always the odd one but the Mimosa is one hotel we have enjoyed without a problem.

really sorry i haven't been on sooner but i have had a lot on lol.

we had an AMAZING time i well and truly loved the place, only problem is we have got the bug and are itching to go again, i know i should want to travel the world but the only place i want to go is palma nova lol.

all the complaints about the hotel were utter nonsense, well there were no muggins when we were there. there where a group of scots there who were very noisy early hours but we didn't mind they were only having fun, no malice in them so whats to complain about

we didn't visit many bars (i know we r boring lol) because we found a fave very quickly (sports bar) bet u can guess why lol. the owner was a really lovely guy, he made us very welcome and the jagger bombs, cherry vodka and some caramel spirit on the house every night also helped

hated flying with a passion dizzy the entire flight there and back, swore i wouldn't fly again but im coming round now pmsl

i didn't expect it to be so hot in may but it was scorchio lovely jubbly.

Thats brilliant and really glad you had a good time. All that worry for nothing lol. Palma nova is a great place and as for not visiting many bars well you dont have to do that, as long as you enjoyed what you done then thats all that counts.
