| Well today, myself, Becky, Brenda & Brian, set off for Sunday Lunch at The Golden Lion in St. Ives, not the one in Cornwall, but the one in Cambridgeshire. What a fabulous day weather wise, we were very lucky.
The Golden Lion Hotel, where we had Sunday lunch, of Roast Beef & all the trimmings, followed by Spiced Apple & Peach crumble or Multi Chocolate & Coconut cheesecake. Unfortunately no photo's of the meals, as we were all ravenous. The meal, desserts, a bottle of wine for the ladies & a few of ciders & a coffee came to about £95 for us all, which wasn't too bad we thought.
After the lunch we had a walk around the town down by the river. Becky, Brenda & Brian posing by the river, which is called The Great Ouse.
A Rotary Club noticeboard detailing some of the history of the town.
Myself, down a step to be at the same height as Becky, with the bridge over the Ouse in the background.
A very strange garage, I think it was one, that had a couple of steps leading down to it, you could get a car in, but how the hell would you get it out?
A view of the Main Street in St. Ives, looking towards the Golden Lion & main Church.
A couple of facts about the town, on plaques around a flower bed. Apparently the pocket calculator was invented in St. Ives in 1972.
Oliver Cromwell lived in the town in 1631. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Cromwell
A statue of Oliver Cromwell.
We all had a fabulous day out & well worth another visit or a trip on the Ouse in the Spring/Summer months.

| Rep from me as well. Thats a great name for a river, "Ouse". You can nearly imagine it slowly drifting by. Didn't know Cromwell was born there either. As you know, he is a hero to us Irish folks! |

| Glad you enjoyed your day in St Ives, Mick. You could have popped in for a drink - Huntingdon is only 5 miles away ( & you probably drove through/past). Rep for sharing on the way. |

Cheers Dermo. He was actually born in Huntingdon mate, Nanny Jen's home town not that far away. _________________ Mick
