| San & myself had a late morning/early afternoon jaunt to here yesterday. We went to Grafham Water 2 years ago you may recall, here is the review of that. https://majorcaforum.forumotion.com/t3489-grafham-water-near-huntingdonWe put the roof down of the car, but not for long as it was quite coolish to say the least. We parked up & had a coffee, before discovering the South Shore part of the area. Like Grafham, it is owned & run by our local Anglian Water Company, this is their website. http://www.anglianwater.co.uk/leisure/what-to-see/water-parks/rutland/ There were quite a few people there, taking in the sights, walking, fishing or riding bikes around the Reservoir, as it was a lovely day. The layout of the Reservoir.Me trying to look cool. San posing. A couple of serene swans, just after one of them had shown us it's arse bum. San, in front of Normanton Church, where Weddings can be held for about 100 people, what a fabulous setting on a lovely day. We walked up to the Dam, which was about 1 1/2 miles from the Car Park. It has a footpath/cycle way & luckily is fairly flat, so a good walk was had.A couple of guys fishing from their boat, & in the background the Rutland Belle, which makes trips around the Reservoir. £8.50 for adults & £5 for children & OAP's. (Sorry about the quality of the photo, all from my phone.)Walking to the Dam we passed the Normanton Park Hotel a Great Western establishment, www.bestwestern.co.uk/Normanton_Park which is well worth a stay if you get a water facing room.San sitting pretty on the wall of the Dam.The footpath/cycle way by the wall of the dam, sorry about my finger at the top left hand corner. San says that we are going to go on a bike ride a round the Water next time we are there, which is about 17 miles in length. This is their website. www.rutlandcycling.com the prices are reasonable, & start off at £9.99 for 2 hours. All in all we had a great 3 or 4 hours there, & I would well recommend a visit, if you are anywhere near on a good day. _________________ Mick

rep from me Cheers for that Del. Might be worth stopping at the Normanton Park Hotel mate, & go on for a bit of fishing. Or even here, which is very close to Rutland Water, & give Mrs. DB a treat & a bit of luxury. http://www.barnsdalehotel.co.uk/ _________________ Mick

What a day to capture it on! Thanks TB, it was a glorious day. But slightly spoilt by the pesky little flies, that are attracted to water, there was millions of them. _________________ Mick
