Having had several wonderful holidays on the Norfolks Broads, we went back to reminisce for a weekend
The swans and duck always have an appetite and would bang and peck on the side of the boats for food
looks peaceful doesn't it, but come the height of summer, hired 20ft launches driven by first timers adds a new dimension, I remember my first time,
"This is the steering wheel Sir, forward and reverse are here, Now drop me off over there, Good luck Sir it's all yours", said the instructor.
A terrifying experience with other boats coming at you but once you get the hang of it, the back waters are quite serene
And you get to look at some very rich people's houses, George Formby used to live on the Broads (bet he didn't clean the windows)
Although in the past, we have covered virtually every inch of the Broads, we had never dared to take our boat under Wroxham Bridge
as it's low and narrow and can take the top of your launch if one gets it wrong. So we hired a small boat for 1/2 a day
But there were only tranquil waters beyond the Bridge and we hadn't missed much
There are a few riverside bars and restaurants at Wroxham where one could have a drink and watch the world go by
or watch the sun go down
But on the busier side of Wroxham in a small boat, one might find a ruddy great paddle steamer bearing down on you
You do get a chance to see one of the Broads which are vast expanses of water but come summer they might be the last parking spot available
