| So dispite the local government telling everyone Mallorca is to be having a fantastic season business wise it appears they have this terribly wrong. The price's are the main problem, so much for trying for an upmarket Island with high prices, they are so far out of touch, why pay the same money for mallorca as you can for long haul holidays its crazy. _________________ |

| Clearly, people are voting with their feet. Magaluf will still have a bunch of wild youngsters in July and August but the out of season punters are now looking elsewhere, and might not ever return in great numbers. I've got 17 nights in Orlando for about £200 more than 11 nights in PN. |

| This is a shame, pricing itself out of the market.
My mum and dad in law have just come back from SP, had a great time but did see the difference.
One restaurant that we all used to go to has even put thier prices UP! Surprise surprise it was empty! |

| I think what happens is they get less visitors so try to make the cash back up by raising the prices but this just pushes people away to the likes of Tom Browns _________________ |

| Exactly Daryn.
We wont be going there anymore, nice place but too expensive.
We know plenty of places that are good value for money, you tend to see more Spanish! |

| We went to Puerto Pollenca a few years back. Was easily the most expensive family holiday we had. We just cant afford Mallorca. |

| Pollenca is quite expensive, nice though!
Is the rest of Spain expensive, like costa deal sol etc?

I go to Torremolinos (Costa del Sol) every January/February & find eating out, drinks etc cheaper than Mallorca. It's got a different atmosphere but that's possibly because it's out-of-season. I love it there. |

| I see, I must admit, I do see such a difference in prices over there. You go to a beach bar and get charge E4.50 for a pint and then go up the road a bit and its E1.25.
I guess its just about knowing where to head, however thats a bit tricky if you are only there a week and unsure of the area. |

| In Tenerife, we can get 3 starters, 3 adult main courses ( steak usually involved ), 2 childrens main courses, 6 soft drinks, 2 waters and 4 alcoholic drinks for under 50 euro. In Mallorca, in 2008, we were paying 16 euro for one main course. |

| I see Thomsons had some late deals (right now) to Faliraki departing over the next two weeks.... under £150 each!
OK maybe not our cup of tea (the destination) but for July that's daft. |

| They are really struggling, the spring has been no better and more and more people are talking about going to USA etc for the same price...... I would love to ask everyone to boycott the Island until the prices drop and the government do something about the problems/prossies etc but it would just kill all them business people that are trying so hard to make things work now. It seems that the likes of forums/facebook members think more about the Island than their own government _________________ |
