Out of interest folks, whats the population of British people out in Majorca?

They estimate over 800 thousand live on the Island but how many of them are Brits I dont know.

I was involved in a conversation with others about ex pats on the island and according to the many Ive spoken too most Brits seem to be heading back to the UK in their droves as they cannot afford to live out there. Unless you have the money up front to pay for accommodation for the 6months or so or buy a property out right then you may struggle to make ends meet. Most people that want to do PR/bar/restaurant work have to share accommodation to get by it can be a hard slog although a great experience if your young.

I always wanted to do it when I was a teen but never did, I wouldnt even think about it now.

I have friends that sold their home in the UK and rented a bar, they lost everything they stayed on the Island another 2 years working in restaurants but they looked knackered when we saw them as they were working all the hours to pay for accommodation etc (12 hours a day) so they could save to get them through the winter, it just does not work any more not enough tourists and too many A/I TBH and adding to this is the many prossie/thieves keeping tourists away at night.

I think what you will find is most of the Brits that are out there, most live along the coast and holiday resorts.

I see you are looking to start up a pool cleaning/window cleaning business.

What I would do is approach the local management agencies, estate agents and get know to the locals.

Most private apartments use a management agency.

I'd say there was more Germans than Brits, so learning German might be something to consider as well if your clientele is going to be broad based.
