| To be honest they deserve the tourism to dry up and when they are at rock bottom they just might do something about it |

| I agree Del the only problem is all them business owners with high rents wont have a chance to recover, Ive spoken to business owners and they are having a terrible time.
I really feel Magaluf is doomed, Calvia council dont seem to give a damn and lots of talk about back handers going round.
Remember the fines etc I spoke about to make the resort a better place to be, no tops off in the streets etc, well its been put on the back burner until September now. it seems the council have their priorities wrong regarding the welfare of the resort and local businesses. The looky looky men I dont understand how they get away with it, apparently rumours have it again alot of back handing going on and these guys affect alot of local shops _________________ |

| Local businesses should band together and march on the town hall and protest until they do something, when do these people get elected |

| Its already been done Del it doesnt seem to matter.
It seems that Mallorca is still run like the old days, pay up/back hander and get away with what you want.
Its so frustrating for the business people. I read a comment today from a bar owner saying that the prossie/thieves get away with what they do in front of everyone yet if they have a sign outside their premises just 1 cm outside the boundary they get a massive fine. _________________ |

| Daryn, I saw this too, on TA there have been lots of posts on there as well.
So many people are simply saying enough is enough and just not heading over there.
I think it was Mark that said it, Maga is fine during the day but a no no at night.

| I still think if you were running a business out there a protest every week at the town hall and media coverage of it might produce the required results, the BBC reporter doing the programme on the problem last year caused some big embarassing moments for the mayor and pressure should have been kept up.
People over here wouldn't let it happen in the local towns without action being taken |

| So I ain't been to Magalluf for years but we're going to Palma Nova as a family in October. I take it if we're sensible we can stay clear of this? Our thinking in going to PN was it might be a bit busier than a quiet resort in October. Defo only in Maga at night there's issues? HH. |

| H, I think you will be fine, not sure how old your kids are but mine are 7 and 5, we often head to PN from Santa Ponsa, but leave Maga well alone after dark!
I del has got a good point, it wouldn't happen in the UK would it? |

| Palma Nova is the place to go, I still love the place and last year found no issues with it, Mark has recently been there so will let you know his findings but I think these scumbags are only after drunk men and you dont get pickings like that in PN they will go for the easiest option that will be Maga.
Magaluf is still a great place, its great to walk around through the day, the beach bars look to be updated and I think you will find it nice and quiet as everyone else will be in bed lol.
I wouldnt worry about your holiday in PN at all and I would still take my family/daughter there without any worries its such a great place to walkaround and for me it still has a fantastic beach that stretches on and on.
We havent booked accommodation for October yet and I was looking for PN but the wife said she is still happy to go Maga where the nightlife is so it hasnt put her off. TBH Ive never had an issue with the scum when being there with my wife they just seem to attack singel guys but I have read that they are more active and will go for couples now. We will have to chat and decide what we are going to do as I dont like the sounds of this now. Im going to chat to a few locals and see what they advise. _________________ |

| OK Cheers for replies, repped. Had a read over at TA, wee bit more aware of the problem & my fears have been allayed somewhat. Very, very seldom out after midnight. Thanks again, HH. |

| Yeah I'm a bit old school on holiday, I get up in the morning and enjoy the day, and pretty much am back in the room by midnight, 1 am latest. Hence I didn't see a single one on the most recent trip. We was in the Piano Bar until midnight on the wednesday, but got a taxi from the rank outside at 11.45, made it back to the hotel before midnight and the all inc ended for a nightcap lol |

| Mark, thats about the same as us, done and back in the flat by 12.00 and only go over to maga once or twice.
They have been out there for years, I remember getting approached on my stag do, and that was back in 2003, so nothing has been done in over 10 years, what does that tell you, back handers to the old bill to turn the other way.
So disapointing.

| I think the real problem now though Ro, is that they are just becoming more and more brazen, no fear of the law whatsoever. Someone will get killed soon |

| In the meantime, Playa de Palma has implemented the 'beach wear' rules, anyone straying from the beach area with no shirt or just a bikini top on faces a fine  |
