| Well after losing my precious camera a few months back my wife got me a new one so I can start snapping away again.
Not had a chance to read up on it as yet but its a Samsung WB250F with wifi built in so looking forward to susing it out. _________________ |

| I've got a Samsung (not that one) and it's ok, not as good as the Panasonic. My only quibble is that the full zoom doesn't work on the smart auto focus setting, you have to have it on 'ordinary' auto focus. Can't see the point of built in wi-fi on cameras but maybe someone will explain to me how useful it is soon |

| Done a little reading on it, basically its so you can back up your photos if you connect to wifi, back them up on facebook the cloud etc, you can aslo connect your camera to your mobile phone and back up your photos on there, I suppose when your on holiday if your running out of space on the sd card then you can back them up somewhere and free up space. _________________ |

| I can store over 5000 photos on the card I have but haven't managed to fill it on holiday yet, perhaps next year |

| i treated myself to a new camera as the 2 sony cyber-shot one i had have broke, what rubbish they were, good photo's but terrible build quality imo
i have a great panasonic lumix compact system camera that takes stunning photo's and i can change the lens to suit my object.but taking this kit in a rucksack, plus water, food, maps, dry clothing ect ect is heavy and cumbersome.

so i wanted a fairly lightweight pocket sized camera that would be great for nights out, portraits, walking, holidays ect,and after doing some research the little lumix seemed to fit the bill perfectly.
early days yet but up to now very impressed.
good price too,was £299,then reduced to £239,plus 10% off in currys, think i got it for about £189 in the end...result.

| yes that's what I liked about the camera that zoom lens and you can then zoom in even further once on a laptop and those swans get even closer |

| Yeah that's a great zoom Ian, only problem over that distance is the need to steady the camera on a monopod or something. |

| What model is yours again Del?
I looked at the reviews Ian from your FB link. Seems to me that you'll need a tripod/monopod to really get the best out of 30x zoom. |

| mines the TZ30 Mark, yes you would need a tripod or a wall to rest it on |

| Oh right, well the one Ians looking at is two up from yours, there's a TZ40 as well.
The fact that these cameras can record the images in RAW as well as JPEG is a bit OTT to me. Unless you've got a good editing program like Photoshop Pro you're unlikely to need RAW. So it seems that the attraction is purely the extra zoom. |

| i have the tz40 model.
great camera, but i'm not fussed on the touch screen (the tz60 hasn't got one) as when i'm out and about i tend to carry the camera in my hand and left on,ready to go.i often startle wildlife when out hiking as i walk softly,so need to be ready.the problem with the tochscreen is i'm forever taking photo's accidently, pain in the bum.never use the touch screen anyway.
the extra zoom will come in handy for wildlife too, though when out on a 12 mile hike there's no way i'm lugging a tripod about with me.i use a solid rest,ie a fencepost ect or my little gorrila grip mini tripod works great.
i am also going to start filming in raw more often, have been googling free camera tip sights and getting some ideas, waiting to join a camera club too.
