Hotel Rocamar to be demolished, green light for cycling route and sporting centre
Soller.—The demolition of Hotel Rocamar in Soller was yesterday approved by the relevant authorities.
In yesterday’s board meeting a budget of one million euros to complete the work was also approved.
The seven floor hotel is in visible degrading state and the board decided it was time for a change.
The Tourism Accommodation Board also met yesterday and not only appointed a new president, Jaime Martinez, a former councillor, but approved three other projects to improve some of the areas considered of touristy interest

The owner of the Rocamar was involved with the Columbian drugs trade and the property was confiscated, but because the historical ownership could not be proven the property could not be sold.

So, who owns it now?

On the flckr link, the photographer says perhaps it became derilict due to the sun not reaching it and having no natural light...... hmmmm!!

There are no historical "Title Deeds" so the local council has assumed ownership and will develop the site for public amenity

We went past this one on the way into Soller didn't we Dad's?

Saw an update in the bulletin. Apparently the development is being delayed as one of the machines/trucks/tractors they are using is too loud to be used within certain months of the year and it is too heavy to get over the crumbling concrete bridge of the hotel.
