| Well it didn't start too good with jams all the way down the M25 and it took 2.5 hours to get to the hotel but eventually we parked in the Marriot Hotel car park. The journey was just frustation but no panic of missing flights https://majorcaforum.forumotion.com/t10199-airport-hotels-gatwick-court-yard-marriot-april-2013So all set, we did the 8 minute walk to the South terminal We were at the South Terminal but there is a train which runs to the North terminal for free Check in was painless, walking straight to the desk. Oh Mr Delboy I see you've flown this plane before, the pilot would like you up near the front, here's row 3 but things were not so good at the magic archway where I had to take about everything off and given a good search with a detector stick. After walking the terminal. I texted Mark to say I was next to the 'win a car competition' but a reply came back that they were in Garfunkels. So a short walk upstairs and there they all were having a coffee It didn't seem long when our gate was called which must have been where Mark left his car 2 hours early. Debs, Lin and Don discuss the disappointment of not being able to do the Saturday wager this week Where Jan's disappointment was not visiting Gibraltar Soon we were all aboard, Delboy which button do I press to start up? That yellow button, top right Captain more to come

| I was looking at that lady on the train and a quote of David Feherty, the golf commentator sprang to mind. "She's got a face like a bulldog licking p*ss off a nettle". When I saw her first, I was afraid to say anything in case she was part of the group |

| Anyway, the plane ended up taking off about 15 minutes late, which in air travel is as good as on time we were on a 757-200 and the pilot informed us it would only take 1hour 45 minutes so we caught up the time Alicante Airport was very modern we were passed through passport control very quickly but it was a little while waiting for the baggage which seem to come in small waves but all six of us were full of expectations of a good holiday. So we were on board a half filled coach Don, Debs, Mark and Jan were about the only people that were not old age pensioners Soon we were on a fast toll road to Benidorm and I was eager to see if it had changed since 1970 oh my god, it's turned into New York this double one their building must be fifty floors, sorry for quality it's on a fast moving coach We only had one drop off and soon arrived at the hotel once inside the area was very clean and we queued at reception, now once given our room we had to queue again for a photo card all this took time and it must have been 20/25 minutes wait, not what one wants after a long day but we were jolly lucky as we witnessed big queues on other days, of coach loads coming in Finally we all got our rooms, Mark and Jan were on the 5th floor, we were on the 11th and Debs and Don on the 13th. Six lifts provided the means of getting up and down I think we were all pleased with the quality of the rooms and didn't feel the need to upgrade but Mark had a sortie into the gods one day to see what it was all about but we didn't get to see their rooms The safe was 17 euro's a week and a further returnable deposit of 6 euros for a plastic tag that makes it function, the TV remote was a 10 euro returnable deposit don't rely on the hotel for exchange either, their rate was 1.03 to the pound, outside it was 1.16 + so here was our view from the balcony, we had one of those sea view room like in the Fawlty Towers sketch, between the sky, land and two skyscrapers I lobbed a stupid fly over the end, not sure whether in crashed 11 floors or went up in the air currents but a good view to take photos but the sunset was behind I think we arranged to all meet in the bar around 8'45pm for a drink before the meal It was drink whatever you fancied of local stuff or Bo or San Miguel we went down a little late but there was a range of stuff, which we helped ourselves too some of us had starters Don just hadn't got the idea at this time and had finished however, they started to clear the food away at 9'30pm before I could photograph it all, but snacks came out until gone midnight We then found a children's entertainment area Don felt well at home on the fire engine So we all went in to watch the animation show of Chicago whilst having a few drinks to round the evening off more to come

| The next morning the sun was shining and the lookings of a lovely day not sure where the sun actually was? but the pool area below seemed to be in sun breakfast was until 10'30am and was help yourself my personal gripes was that the bacon was fatty and greasy, the orange juice in the machine was watered down and the coffee hardly had any flavour, anyone going should take/ buy their own coffee to top it up. As machine ran out of orange one day and just dispensed watery stuff proving my point of watering it down anyway after breakfast it was down to the pool to find some chairbeds we quickly discovered that all the beds had fixed head ends and only the sunlounger up in the Gods for the privileged had raising heads So down here we had to rough it we were soon joined by Debs and Don also trying to work out where the best sun spot would be we more or less settled on a spot until Mark came down with his theodolite to calculate the best spot which was behind the kids playground which eventually became MF corner however, beds were being saved sometimes the people didn't turn up till the afternoon It was ok plenty of beds this time of the year but come summer these people would be selfish in doing this. The downstairs bar near the pool was closed and one had to go annoyingly upstairs to get a drink and Mark had to comeback and put a shirt on before they would serve him more to come |

| Well it was back to the pool for the afternoon and a few beers then come 5pm it was back to the room to get washed and changed Then it was down to dinner as tonight Mark was showing us his highlights of the town all we do is eat and drink in this place That man Delboy, he keep taking my picture OMG, am I going to get in the lift by the end of the week Jan found something not too sweet Then it was off to the Strip We passed the Pelicanos earlier and then called in Morgans bar, the stage of the Neptune bar in the series Benidorm however, there were no chairs available, so we then went on to the Western bar Mark was at home with the music but no areas to dance and after a drink we got taxi back I think that is what I can recall of Sunday Night. MONDAY to come PRESS THE Little 2 at the bottom right of the page to go to PAGE 2 and so on, there are 4 PAGES lol

| hahaha brilliant mate, what do you think of the place, I bet you saw a massive difference from all them years you were there, my opinion is its a dump lol, defo Backool in the sun but the amount of entertainment makes up for it. Bingo Karaoke everywhere, some real good singers and bands. I would go back again, been a few times now but for me its only a max of 3 nights.

| so Monday morning and the weather again looked good a view of the hospital from our window why don't you have some healthy fruit said Mrs Db I wasn't impressed And then it was back to MF corner However, Delboy decided on a walkabout and the entertainment for the week was The hotel had a hairdressers and a gift shop plus internet access for 1 euro 7mins, 2 euro's 15mins and 3 euro's for 30 mins a piano bar which did have some entertainment Billard tables and up an iron staircase a crazy golf course and a sand pit for kids Also another spot for sunbeds, apparently a bar opens every half hour up here I later spotted you could reach this area by a small outside lift Next I went and surprised everybody in the indoor swimming pool, well you have to for the forum don't you then a well deserved beer on the sunbed before lunch Coming soon Mondays Lunch |

| I'm enjoying this del Marks Theodolite Yes I'll have a few pics to add at the end. I sent my PC away to the menders while I was away, haven't got it back yet, so am on-line right now with this spare one, and this one doesn't have the 'library' where I upload my photos too, so I was sort of waiting for my PC to come back. |

| time for lunch and this is all I took after me turning down a piece of Sole for what evenually turned out to be a pile of lamb bones suitable to give a dog and having tossed them aside all the Soles had been taken but a nice sunny afternoon followed and we got ready for the evening meal This time chef must have been wincing as I only got a picture of his Pork Wellington (yes not beef) and some of the puddings I turned down a dry looking cake chef was cutting up for this but later Debs turned up with a piece of it laced in chocolate sauce which was hidden in a container with a lid on it anyway after dinner Mark and Jan had arranged to meet some TA members opposite the Levente Club Hotel who had given him some help and also Mark and Debs could use some free wifi with a beer. However, the members were a bit late and due to the chill of the evening we went inside the bar Don found his shirt was all of a glow and proper labelled drinks were had by all Suddenly Neil Diamond popped up and got Deb's attention or was it Don's matching shirt, then after meeting up with Debs TA member Fly-mo it was back to the Hotel for.................wait for it... Yes GREASE, well you can't go to an AI without it being on the bacon and the entertainment can you queues for drinks at this time of the year weren't too bad but come summer maybe a different story well they found a newbie (not having eaten any of their lunches to get into those trousers) as the show finished, Don and I decided to go for a midnight burger but unlike Oliva Newton-John I was wondering how I was going to peel into my jeans the following morning. Tuesday to follow |
